In 2004, Ellis County Concrete was established in the great city of Hays as a subsidiary company of Concrete Service Co located in Great Bend. We first purchased a piece of ground north of I-70 on exit 157, moved in the plant, equipment, and materials to start the ready mix business. Our first jobs were Hall Street and the Home Depot supplying the ready mixed concrete. Since then we have supplied our ready mixed concrete for many new residential homes in Hays and surrounding areas, plus many commercial and industrial sites such as the Buckeye Wind Farms, Hibbett Sports, Fort Hays State University, the City of Hays, Vine Street, I-Hop, Ellis Travel Plaza, and the Goodman Energy Center to name a few making our twelve years in business in the beautiful city of Hays and surrounding area a great place to be.

Our operation consists of a computerized batch plant producing various mix designs to meet the necessary strengths required, six mixer trucks ready to deliver to the job sites, and an experienced team of employees. The manager, Todd Jacobs, has been with our company for twenty years bringing a lot of knowledge and experience to get your job done right. When the conditions require, we add hot water to our mixes. This allows you to keep working through colder weather and finish the project on time and on budget. At our plant site we also sell sand and rock. We are open five days a week and on most Saturdays by appointment. Because Ellis County Concrete is a subsidiary of our Great Bend operation, we are able to bring additional trucks and manpower into the Hays plant if and when the job demands extra services. The Westhoff family, Roy, Marcia, Dale, and Marc, has owned Concrete Service of Great Bend since 1972 bringing a combined 130 years of experience to the ready mix industry. Other operations owned by the Westhoff family are Russell Ready Mix Concrete in Russell, KS.; Mid America Redi-Mix in Lyons, KS.; Mid America Redi-Mix in Hutchinson, KS.; and a Colorado site, Huefrano County Concrete, in Walsenburg.
